RAW rolling papers are made from unbleached papers, which means that chlorine has not been used in the process to chemically whiten the papers – they are natural plant fibres, this is why they have a slight natural brown colour. What is the difference between 1 ¼ and king size papers?
1 ¼ size papers are slightly longer than standard cigarette sized papers (similar to Ventti or Tally Ho), whereas king size are a lot longer. You will get a longer burn time with king size papers as there is more herbs packed in – perfect for group sessions. King size papers are generally harder to roll and keep tight, more experience is usually required to keep it even and tight. Usually, a king size roll will product more volume of smoke as there is more herb packed in compared with shorter 1 ¼ papers.
How should I store my RAW rolling papers?
We recommend storing your papers in an airtight container or metal container. As RAW rolling papers are natural and chemical free, they are more susceptible to a change in heat, moisture and sunlight. If moisture gets into the papers, it might get mouldy, on the other hand if they are too dry then they become slightly brittle. Store your papers in an environment between 15 – 20 degrees Celsius and lastly, keep your papers in a dark environment away from direct sunlight. Observing these directions will prolong your papers and provide you with an optimal smoke. What are some common mistakes beginners make when rolling king size papers?
- Use just the right amount of saliva when licking the glue seal, too much or too little and the paper will not seal properly and fall apart.
- Keep the filter (also known as the tip) hard against the side when rolling. If it’s too loose then you run the risk of it collapsing and falling apart.
- Do not over fill with herb, if you fill it too much then then you risk the glue not holding properly.
- Pack in your herb evenly, use a packing tool to evenly distribute the herb throughout.
Should I buy RAW papers with or without tips?
Buying RAW rolling papers with tips is generally better value for money but only if you need it. If you already have RAW tips from previously or prefer using other filters (such as Ventti filters) then papers on their own is the perfect choice. There are benefits to using a tip or filter when rolling, these include; better air flow (which gives you a consistent burn) and a stronger structure (less chance of falling apart and getting herb in your mouth).
